There is also the Jozani forest that occupies a nature reserve, filled with beautiful wildlife ranging from different species of marine life such as dolphins, fish, and sharks. Its main land animals consist of birds, monkeys and is also home to the red colobus monkey that is only located in the Jozani forest in Zanzibar. It also was the home of the famous Zanzibar leopard which went extinct, but you can hear all about the other big cats’ beauty and reputation in the park.
You can also explore the Changuu island, it is 5.6 km north west of Stone town, and is filled with coral mines; a lot of tourists also go to visit the Aldabra giant tortoises. There is also the old fort of Zanzibar, known as the Arab fort; it is one of the oldest buildings in Zanzibar, built by the Omanis to defend against the Portuguese, and now it has become a tourist hub where one can get merchandise as well.
